CODE OF CONDUCT

AND BEST PRACTICE FOR CLUB MEMBERS

MISSION

Atlanta Clan Na NGael is a cultural club promoting Irish culture including the practice of hurling, camogie and gaelic football. Our community includes players, coaches, volunteers, friends and family. Our club’s goal is to promote the Irish culture and ensure all our members find enjoyment in playing and/or watching these sports and that all our members will find a welcoming community in our club. We aim to achieve this by adhering to the rules of the games and respecting all other participants.

APPLICABILITY

Atlanta Clan na Ngael abides by all rules and bylaws from USGAA. The following is intended to be in addition to the USGAA code of conduct. The document is applicable to all members representing Atlanta GAA in any occasion: either on or off the field; including social gatherings organized by our club and on social media.

PLAYERS, COACHES AND SPECTATORS

Players and coaches and other club members watching games can ensure that our sports have a beneficial impact when they adhere to the following principles:
• Harassment of any type: sexual, verbal, or physical is not tolerated, on or off the field.
• Bullying is totally unacceptable
• Inclusivity: we always welcome new players regardless of prior experience
• Honor sportsmanship and play by the rules
• Always do your best, play fairly and have fun
• Respect officials/referees and accept their decision
• Do not shout or argue with the referee, officials, teammates or opponents
• Always remember that football/hurling is a team game and encourage your fellow players
• Respect your club and property
• Respect club leadership by actively participating in club activities.
• Players accept they are not guaranteed playing time and respect the coach’s decision
• Coaches should seek to involve all players

CLUB MEMBER BEHAVIOR FOR ALL OTHER OCCASSIONS (SOCIAL MEDIA, CLUB SOCIAL GATHERINGS, ETC.)

OUR CLUB HAS A ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

If you experience or witness any of the following behavior at any Clan NaGael event, or on any Clan NaGael websites or social media, please report it immediately.
• Racism
• Sexism
• Sexual Harassment
• Abuse: Verbal or Physical
• Intolerance of a person’s religion, gender identity or sexual orientation
• Behaving in a way that disturbs the enjoyment of the event/discussion for other people
• Any other actions deemed to be intentionally hurtful, harmful, threatening or inappropriate
We aim to enforce the right for all Clan NaGael members to enjoy their club participation in an environment that is safe and without risks to health, violence and aggression.

PROCEDURE

This code of conduct should be signed by all members when registering.
If there are any complaints or concerns about another club member, they should be elevated to team leaders. If player(s) is/are not satisfied, the complaints can be elevated to the board, if relevant.
If you are not comfortable reporting through the methods detailed above emails can be sent anonymously to the secretary.atlantaclannnangael.southeast.usa@gaa.ie email address. occasion: either on or off the field; including social gatherings organized by our club and on social media.
