Atlanta was proud to host the Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr Leo Varadkar T.D. during the St Patrick’s Day festivities. The Executive Committee of Atlanta Clan na nGael enjoyed a lunch with Minister Varadkar and the Irish Consulate General in Atlanta Mr Paul Gleeson at Ri Ra’s Irish Pub during the visit. Chairman Ray Treacy presented Minister Varadkar with an Atlanta Clan na nGael jersey as a token of appreciation for his visit to Georgia.
The club, led by honorary marshal Jim Whooley, was proud to partake in the 132nd Atlanta St Patrick’s Day parade. The turnout by club members was the largest in a number of years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day out none more so than young Katie Cronin pictured above. Participants demonstrated the skills of Hurling and Gaelic Football along the parade route while handing out business cards to interested onlookers. A big thanks to Cultural Officer Adrian Officer for organizing activities on the day.
